Well, a final weekend of freedom before starting (finally) a new job. Long and convoluted story that I may impart later, depends on the level of alcofrol. So, the music is on (Big Bopper if ya wanted to know) The food is cooking (Scampi, chips and peas - Brummie brain food!) and the first drinks are supped - could be a long night! ToH is away on a hen night for a very good friend of ours who is going through that emo. hell that is the pre wedding organising! Not nice, but the end result is worth it!
Upshot is I have the place to myself for the weekend, just me, the puppy, a playstation 3, 50" plasma and lots of food and booze. Can we say hog heaven? Think so! Have spent the last week making task lists with ToH's help of course and actually getting some of them done!! Big improvement over the way I have been.

Don't know why
Ok, lets start from the beginning. Whilst ToH was away in the Far East I spend a lot of time pissed, trying to get my head straight. It may or may not have worked. Whichever, have been a good boy since her return, but am getting pissed again tonight. Have my patented pissed music mix on the pc and am getting through the units sat here typing. Apparently my consumption can be construed as bingeing, but as that equates to a bottle of wine, i'm not that bothered!
Anywho, back to the plot... Was reading new scientist today, and they had a small feature in feedback on metascams, based on nigerian 416 scams, these suggest that the NIgerian government is prepared to compensate those muppets who got scamed by the original Nigerian emails to the tune of $150K!! And all you have to do is send them exactly the same info that got ya scammed last time!! In the words of the song "Protect Ya Neck!"
Nuff now, but it does pose an interesting point, if you can have meta-scams, what else can we take to the next level.....I have a few ideas, but more later

Time flies
So, TOH is home tomorrow from extended vacation! All is well and ready but one is still nervous that something is forgotten. Final push to get the potato bed dug this afternoon and it should be ready for planting tomorrow/Monday. Busy, busy, busy and still need to get a job sorted LOL!

Upsetting realisation
Ok, I'm a unreformed fan of Bill Hicks (please look him up if you don't know his work!) but I realised I am older than he was when he died, and I have acheived nothing! Not a single thing! This man saw the evil inherent in society and took it upon himself to try to right those wrongs, and where is my contribution? So I try to grow my own veg. and keep my own chickens....so what?! Big wup! How am I sticking it to 'da man'? Truth to tell, I'm not.....so wrapped up in trying to make ends meet that I'm too damn scared to make that push, to make that jump to creative freedom. Have written 3 novels but done nothing with them except hit the delete key in case they weren't "good enough". Like Bill cared about that! How can I profess to be a fan when I refuse to subscribe to his mindset?

Getting pissed
Many a fun evening spent working on this pleasurable hobby. Got the tunes on the computer jukebox turned up, am half way through the second bottle of wine (I know, naughty me, one bottle is binge drinking apparently, but as I used to drink 20 pints a night as a rugby playing teenager I figure I get a bit of extra leeway LOL!) and all is well. I am well aware that alcohol is a terribly addictive (physical) drug, but I have a free choice to drink it or not. Why do I not have free choice over other drugs? Many of which are less harmful?

Having quite a wide music taste can have its disadvantages, there is just too much choice in terms of quality tunes out there, but at those times, go back to what you know best, in my case, Green Day, Korn, Neds Atomic Dustbin, PWEI, Prodigy, Blink 182, NIN, Therapy, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nitzer Ebb, Cure, Depeche Mode, Iron Maiden, Nirvana, Rammstein etc. etc. In the emotive songs of our childhood we find solace in our times of need. As the old timers said "The Youth knows the Man best"

Missing my mates
Ok, how to phrase this correctly, always a problem. First principale - wasn't good at making friends, still not great at it, so have very few "real" friends (perhaps 4? maybe less). As a child I didn't really realise the importance of friends as I didn't have any, and didn't know that this was not normal, but now I have a handful they are so important to me that it is a little scary how intense I feel about them (I think they know who they are so all is well). But I miss them! More than I thought possible! Text messages and phone calls are ok, but it is not enough. One in particular I feel spiritually bonded to and it hurts so much that that person is too far away to just go to the pub with (or even Gym with!) (You know who you are J!)

Happy memories and current theories
Ok, not sure on the posting rules but we'll give this a try, was a bit of a bad lad in the past. Heavily into the rave scene ("Death of the prodigy dancer" and all that!) and all that entails in terms of MDMA and associated fun. Current research suggests that ceretonin levels are a lot more important than first thought, and what does MDMA use affect? You guessed it! As a person of difference (LOL) with Aspergers Syndrome (undiagnosed 'cause they is bastids lol) was interested in how messing about with ceretonin levels can affect people. Can remember the excessively creative periods under the inflence, when my art and poetry where something else. Also remember how much easier it was to interact with O/P (other people) when fucked!

The new paganism
Ok, I call myself pagan. Why? I spent a large part of my formative years working on farms, paying for my horse riding. It is difficult to interact with nature so closely without being aware of something inherent in the environment that could be categorised as divinity. I chose to focus on that aspect of the divine and "worship" nature. I ask no-one else to follow my path or say I am right. That's where my fundamental problem lies. Key to the practice of monotheistic religions is the denial of any other god (Christianity - worship no craven idols, Islam - There is no god but Allah) but this leaves a difficulty - why is one correct, and one not? Can't get my head round that one - sorry!
But I am not overtly pagan, why? Ok, paganism is seen in the same light as new ageism, and it is largely bollocks. Take as an example Wicca, one of the larger pagan paths. Developed in the 1950's by Gerald Gardiner (look him up) as an initiatory tradition based on masonry and the golden dawn (look them up to!) yet apparently there is no problem being a solitary wiccan! Fluffy thinking!! As long as this goes on, paganism as a movement will get nowhere. There have to be rules in order to be taken seriously. If wicca is an initiatory path (as prescribed by Gardiner) then you can't be a solitary wiccan (Sorry and all but there it is) you can follow a broadly wiccan path but you are not wiccan if you are not in a wiccan coven.
Paganism is far too liberal in it's views of what is acceptable. There is no way I should be able to call myself pagan, but I can. If the movement wants any credibility, it must become more hardline and start to define what is and is not paganism.

Conspiracy theories
Why? Whats the point? Ok lets take the most prevalent, that of a new world order.....Started about 700 years ago, maybe more, depends if you are tempar or not, but either way, hasn't succeeded yet...Doesn't that tell you anything? It really should I think! Half lizard alien rulers? Same thing! Why no progress from the base state. Roswell? UFO's generally? give me a serious analysis of the physics that would allow interdimensional travel (the only way interstellar travel would be possible!) and I might give you the time of day. Mayan prophecy? Not predicting their owm demise? Really? Egyptians needing alien help? Exactly how far do you think we have evolved in 4000 years? Go back to your studies child, evolution doesn't happen taht fast. The Egyptians 4000 years ago were as bright as we are, and perfectly capable of siting pyramids. Stonehenge? Where is the problem with it being manmade?
Guys (and funnily enough it is mostly guys) get over it. You are smart people, study physics or mathematics or music or anything else. Please get a grip and start trying to improve the life we have here on earth without any exterior intervention!
My take....Conspiracy theory is the new religion. David Icke is the new Martin Luther pinning his ideas to the doors of the establishment. Not right or wrong, just new ideas that some will listen to, but how much better if instead of preaching conspiracy, his message was one of universal love? There is a trick being missed here. We live in a world where boundaries are built by hate and fear. Embrace your brother, show by example your pure heart. There is no need for conspiracy to mess up our planet, we do that well enough ourselves. Look locally, hold your representatives to account, make them hold their leaders to account. Only by making a stand to our leaders will we know the true picture. Don't waste your time with might be's and conspiracys, deal with the real world, and make it better!

That all important first post
So, one finds oneself posting a blog. Something that now appears to be de rigeur for those fashionistas amongst us! Not planning to inform aquaintances/friends/partner about this blog, so will see how it develops. The intention is to use it as a cathartic release on those occasions that such is necessary (normally when I have been trawling the internet for the latest conspiracy theories) Ah perhaps should just put a bit about oneself in this first post, to whit; am a bit of an anti conspiracy theory nut.
Have no problem with those who enjoy them and make money from them (Icke and co.) but if the amount of brainpower wasted on this tosh was turned to serious research, the world would be a happier place one feels. Have a personal theory on all this malarky, but will espouse further in additional posts, generally after imbibing waste quantities of druid fluid (ah, perhaps should add that there is a pagan aspect to my belief system, although a rather odd eclectic one.... more on that later as well possibly)

For those who need to know such things, my name is Matt (I prefer the diminutive....we don't get to choose our names, Stiff is an acceptable alternative, but you'll have to get to know me to find out why LOL!) I'm a pretty easygoing kind of chap most of the time but I have a few "issues" that will no doubt come out. I'm happily married and we have a large dog and several chickens (the dog is probably german shepherd x Akita but we can't be sure - rescue case, very sad, and now very soppy!) I'm pagan by default, but probably not by inclination, tend to follow my own path, again more on that later possibly, and I'm pretty happy with my lot, which seems strange given recent events, but there you go.
I'm very heavily into music, started out as a headbanger, went through a punk phase, then goth, then hardcore rave, then back to a sort of indie mashup, and now all sorts really, but not jazz! Claims to fame.....used to be a top quality swimmer (junior olympians) and rugby player (county under 19's), semi-pro horse rider, college rodeo champion, and had pictures in mix mag 'cause I used to set myself on fire and backflip off stage at raves LOL!
Guess thats about enough for an intro post, but as I am getting through my second bottle of wine tonight, there may be additional posts now that I have started! Be warned!
